Top Concept Cars Shown At Auto Expo 2018 to Launch in 2019

The 14th Auto Expo was held in early 2018. It had displayed a wide range of new cars from various automakers in India market. Here is the list of the car shown in Auto Expo 2018 that will make their official launch in 2019.

Auto Expo is the largest auto event in India which is held every two years. The last year’s show has seen a host of new cars and concept cars. Some of them has entered the market in 2018 but there is still some car that hasn’t arrived yet. Here is the list of the car that has appeared on the 2018 show that will be launched in 2019.

1. Tata Harrier

Tata Harrier is one of the most important launches of Tata in 2019. Tata Motors has prepared for the launch of this car for quite a long time with various teasers and sneak peek. Earlier next year, Tata Harrier will finally arrive in its production form. The images of the mass-produced Harrier has been released, revealing it to be different from its concept. The production version is toned down a bit.

Tata Harrier gets the segment-leading features like an 8.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system along with a 7-inch colour MID, rear parking camera LED projector headlights, chilled storage cube tuck under the armrest. But it has skipped on the panoramic sunroof as in the concept version.

At launch, Tata Harrier will come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 140bhp and 350Nm. A six-speed manual gearbox will transfer the power to the wheel. It is confirmed that an automatic gearbox will come later, possibly in mid-2019.

Price: 12.99 - 17.99 Lakh

2. Tata 45X

Tata 45X is the second concept cars of Tata that were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. After the Harrier is launched, the Tata 45X will be the next. The 45X will sit on the premium hatchback segment. And accordingly, it will get a range of advanced goodies. Under the hood, it is likely that it will borrow powertrains from Nexon which includes 2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel motors. These engines easily make the 45X the most powerful car of its segment.

From the spy image, the 45X seems to get a 7-inch touchscreen system, and day/night IRVM. It is expected that the 45X will get multiple driving settings, auto climate control, JBL sound system, multiple driving setting, auto headlights and rain-sensing wipers.

It is expected that in the next few months, we will know more information about this car. The launch of the 45X is likely to come by Diwali 2019. And it will go up against cars of its class, like Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.

3. Honda Civic

The ten-generation Civic will arrive Indian market in 2019. It has been a good eight year since Honda discontinued India-bound Civic in 2012. This new Civic will come in the first quarter of 2019, and the sketch of the 2019 Civic has been revealed. India is among the first market to get the new-gen Civic.

The 2019 updates include the rework of the exterior and the addition of new techs. On the exterior, the new Civic will get 18-inch wheels, 1 inch larger than its predecessor.  The highlight inside the new Civic is the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will not get the capacitive buttons as its pre-facelift version but all physical buttons.

The new petrol Civic might come with the same 1.8-litre motor just like its previous model or the larger 2.0-litre unit powering the recent CR-V. Another option of a diesel engine is newly added. It will get a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, too. The possibility of the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine has been crossed out.

Price: 15 lakh to 18 lakh

4. Kia SP Concept

Kia will make their way to the India market in 2019. And in early 2018, Kia had made their first appearance at the largest auto show, the Auto Expo with 16 concept cars. Kia also opened about their plan, telling that they will introduce at least 5 cars by 2022. Codenamed SP2i, Kia SP Concept is the first car that is considered for mass production. Kia confirmed that SP Concept will be launched in months’ time.

Kia SP concept-based SUV is expected to take the name Trazor or Tusker. After launch, it will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

Some details about this car are revealed recently. This car will come with both diesel and petrol engine. The SP-based SUV might take the engine from Hyundai Creta. These units on the Hyundai Creta is able to develop 123PS/151Nm and 128PS/260Nm for diesel and petrol version respectively. There is also a possibility for the plug-in mild hybrid variants to follow.

Based on the spy pictures, the Indian-spec SP-based SUV will less masculine than what we have seen on the concept car. Inside the car, it is expected to inherit the feature-rich interior from its inspiration Hyundai Creta.

Price: Rs 10 lakh - Rs 16 lakh

5. Mahindra eKUV100

Mahindra is the first carmaker to venture the EV segment in India. Even though the previous EV models like eVerito and e20 Plus only have modest success, they had played a vital role in Mahindra’s long-term plan. And in 2019, along with other newcomers, Mahindra will come back and get real in this segment with its new electric vehicles.

After the eVerito, and e20 Plus, Mahindra will continue their journey in EV segment with the eKUV100

The eKUV100, based on the current eKUV100, will be introduced in 2019. Mahindra has teased this electric vehicle back in the Auto Expo 2018. The look of the eKUV100 takes cues from the KUV100, so does the interior. It will get the latest connectivity technologies like real-time navigation, smartphone connectivity, as well as remote diagnostics.

It is likely to have the range of 140km and within an hour, the battery could charge up to 80 per cent.

Price: Above 10 lakh

Launch Date: Mid-2019
