Toyota Etios, the entry-level models on Toyota’s line-up will get updates on the base variant in the upcoming time. The upgrading will mostly focus on the interior.

Toyota Etios Sedan G and GD variant are scheduled to receive interior updates, confirmed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor. If the G trim along with the V and VX grade are armed with a petrol engine, the GD and VD and VXD trims are powered by diesel engine. It means that updates will be available for both diesel and petrol entry-level trim.

The updates will mainly focus on the interior. Audi system will now be available on the base variant of G and GD. With the new system, the G and GD models now come with CD MP3 player, radio and USB and Aux-in input and Bluetooth connection. This unit is shared with the base variant in Toyota Yaris’s range.

The interior design also receives essential updates. The key change inside the Toyota Etios is the new colour scheme. The current version wears black and beige dual tone, but in the upcoming version, it will gain fabric seat and new colour as well.

There is no change to expect from the mechanical part. This sedan will continue with the same powertrain options, which include 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel. The former unit could churn out the peak mileage of 90 PS and torque of 132 Nm while the latter could make 68 PS and 170 Nm. Both of which come with the standard 5-speed manual transmission. About the fuel efficiency, the petrol variant could return the mileage of 16.78kmpl, while the diesel trim offers a more economical option of 23.59kmpl mileage.

In India, the Toyota Etios is available in two forms, the Live as a hatchback and Platinum as the sedan. The current poor sale volume is threatening the existence of this brand plate and it is necessary to upgrade the car, mechanically and cosmetically.
