The Toyota Fortuner facelift just had its global debut earlier this year. The SUV is expected to go on sale in India in early 2021.

We are set to see the updated Toyota Fortuner launching in the Indian market next year, possibly by the last week of January. Ahead of the market launch of the new Fortuner, some select dealers have started accepting the pre-booking orders for the model, of course, unofficially, for a token amount of Rs 50,000.

The facelifted Toyota Fortuner sports some slight changes to the front, including a redesigned front grille and bumper along with tweaked headlamps. It could also boast of a new set of alloy wheels as part of the changes, the same has been spotted on the test mule earlier. Toyota has launched a sportier variant of the Fortuner dubbed the Fortuner Legender abroad, but we aren’t sure if this variant will make it to India or not.

Internationally, the Toyota Fortuner facelift has been revealed with an all-black cabin that sports a bigger touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay alongside a new instrument cluster. The India-spec version is expected to come with a larger touchscreen for the infotainment, auto climate control, cabin mood lighting, wireless charger among others.

Toyota might offer the facelifted Fortuner with the same set of engines as seen in the current model, including a 2.7-litre petrol mill making 166 PS/ 245 Nm and a 2.8-litre diesel motor churning out 177 PS/ 450 Nm of torque. While both the engines are available with a 6-speed AT, the petrol version can be had with a 5-speed MT while the diesel motor is paired with a 6-speed MT option. The new Fortuner is expected to come in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner will command a slight premium over the current Fortuner which is priced between Rs 28.66 – 36.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once launched, the new Fortuner will continue to face the heat created by the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and MG Gloster.
