Toyota has raised the price of the Glanza up to Rs 26,000. However, this hatchback is still cheaper than its respective variants on Maruti Baleno's range.
Recently, Toyota has increased the price of Innova Crysta and Fortuner. Following the price hike of Toyota’s best-selling models, the less popular models like Toyota Glanza and Yaris have also become more expensive. While the price of the Yaris has increased by Rs 1.68 lakh, the Glanze gets costlier by a smaller margin of Rs 26,000. Despite getting a price hike, this premium hatchback is still more affordable than its donor model, the Baleno. It is the first price hike for the hatchback since its debut last year.
Toyota Glanza was launched last year as the rebadged version of the Maruti Baleno
At the launch, the Toyota-badged Baleno was available at a starting price of Rs 6.98 lakh and the top-spec variant of this hatchback was sold at Rs 8.9 lakh (ex-showroom). After the latest price hike, the Toyota Glanza is now priced from Rs 7.01 Lakh to Rs 8.96 lakh. The entry-level G MT variant’s price gets costlier by a small margin of only Rs 3,000. On the other hand, the G Mild Hybrid MT variant has witnessed the biggest price increased of Rs 26,000.
Even though Toyota has increased the price of the Glanza, the Japanese car manufacturer will manage to keep the price slightly below that of the Maruti Baleno. For most variants, Toyota Glanza is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the respective variant in Maruti Baleno’s line-up. The G Mild Hybrid MT variant is the only exception with the price difference of Rs 40,000. However, it should be noted that Toyota has only introduced the Glanza in trimps comparable to Zeta and Alpha models of the Baleno. Due to this major difference, the entry-level variant of the Baleno is still more affordable than the base G MT variant on the Glanza. At the moment, the Baleno is available at the starting price of Rs 5.6 lakh.
Despite getting a price hike, Toyota Glanza still undercuts its respective variants on the Maruti Baleno
Toyota Glanza is mostly identical to the Maruti Baleno with some subtle changes, like a new badge, a slightly revised front grille and boot space. The Glanza carries forward the 1.2-litre petrol engine along with the transmission options from the Maruti Baleno. The Glanza also gets a similar features list. Both cars come with 7-inch infotainment, automatic climate control, LED headlights, rear parking camera, and dual front airbags, to name a few.
