Toyota Glanza will be launched on June 6. Toyota also dropped a teaser of the upcoming model.

Toyota Glanza is the first Maruti Suzuki model to be rebadged by Toyota. Recently, Toyota has finally confirmed the exact launch date of Glanza. The rebadged Baleno will be launched on June 6 2019. Alongside, the company also released the teaser for the Toyota Granza which has revealed the front face of the Granza for the first time.

As shown on the teaser, the Glanza is seen with the basically same front design. The only difference is the new chrome-inserted grille. The teaser doesn’t film the side or the rear side of the Glanza, however, the spy images have given us hints on the full exterior of the rebadged Baleno. According to these spy shots, the rear and side profile of the Glanza are virtually identical to the original Baleno. Toyota Glanza even features the same wheels. On the rear, there is no change other than the new badge. It seems that Toyota has given us a literal interpretation of “rebadging engineering”.

The "copy and paste" procedure is repeated for the interior design as well. The only difference, once again, is the new badge wore on the steering wheels. Apart from that, everything is brought straight from the Baleno to the Toyota, from the dashboard design, colour scheme or even the 7.0-inch infotainment system. However, we could not tell if Toyota has delivered any change to the operation of this unit.

Under the hood, Toyota Glanza is likely to be offered exclusively with the 84hp, 1.2-litre, K12B petrol engine. The transmission is either a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Initially, no diesel engine is available. It is also speculated that the Glanza might get Smart Hybrid system with the 1.2-litre K12C DualJet engine in the later stage.

Toyota Glanza will be identical to the Baleno in most parts

Toyota’s rework on the final product is limited. However, the manufacturer will differentiate itself from the Baleno by offering a better warranty package. While Maruti provides only two-year/40,000km warranty as standard, Toyota might offer the warranty of three years/1,00,000km. A five-year True warranty package could be offered as the extended warranty plan while the standard manufacturer warranty is available. Passing this point, the seven-year Toyota Timeless Warranty package will be on offer.

As Toyota only offers the Glanza in high-spec variants, the price of the rebadged version will be higher than the standard Boleno. Toyota Glanza will rival Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Tata Altroz.
