Unknown New SUV Spotted In India: Is It A MG, A Kia Or A Brand-new Name?

In the following years, there will be more and more carmakers to join our market. At first, we will greet the Kia and MG Motor. Both of the two car manufacturers are targeting at the SUV segment which is seeing ever-growing popularity. News about their very first vehicles is surfacing around for a while. But which one, Kia or MG, is the manufacturer of the mysterious SUV that we mentioned above? Unfortunately, none of them is the real producer of this SUV. Instead, it is suspected to belong to an even newer face, the Great Wall Motors Company. The Chinese manufacturer is planning to participate in the India market in two years.

Even though it doesn’t have a long history as other worldwide famous car makers and only dated back to 1984, we could not overlook the entrance of the GWMC into our market. GWMC is the leading SUV and pick-up truck manufacturer in one of the largest and most thriving markets in the world, China.

To prepare for their business in India, GWMC has established their infrastructure at Karnataka, which focuses on technical development like Artificial Intelligence and EV coding. Personnel recruitment is also started.

The suspected SUV might be GWMC’s first vehicle to go on sale in the Indian market, possibly in late 2021 or 2022. GWMC’s experiences with Haval, an SUVs-and-crossover-specialized marque owned by GWMC. One of Haval’s products, Haval H6 has been the segment-leading SUV in China for more than half a decade. This SUV alone has accounted for one-third of the total sales of the Chinese manufacturer last month. Last year, GWMC has retailed more than a million units internationally.

The mysterious SUV is expected to the Indian-spec of the Haval H6. It might arrive at the India shore in the next two years. In China, Haval H6 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that churns out the maximum power of 169bhp. This is a well-equipped car with a load of features. Exteriorly, the H6 is styled as a very aggressive-looking SUV.

Beyond its motherland, GWMC also ventures into other markets like Australia, Russia, and South Africa. India will be a very important market for GWMC’s global growth.
