Ford EcoSport SE will be a new trim in the EcoSport's variant line-up, which will miss out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. It has been spotted shooting for the YouTube promo recently. Take a look at the pictures here.

Being one of the oldest cars in the sub-4m compact-SUV segment, the Ford EcoSport is due for an update. While it was earlier speculated to receive either a generation change or a comprehensive facelift this year, the new spy images of the upcoming SE trim pack in a different surprise for the buyers as it misses out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The upcoming Ford EcoSport SE was recently spotted alongside the Titanium trim while shooting for the YouTube promo. The Titanium trim of the EcoSport, however, had its tailgate-mounted spare wheel intact. This suggests that Ford will not be removing the tailgate-mounted spare wheel from all the trims of the EcoSport. Only the upcoming SE variant will miss out on one, instead.

Interestingly, the Ford EcoSport’s SE trim will continue to have its tailgate open sideways. A similar setup is offered in some international markets without any spare wheel, but with a tyre repair kit. With a new amendment from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the carmakers can now opt to omit on offering a spare wheel in a vehicle of M1 category. Hence, the EcoSport SE is expected to come with a tyre repair kit and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Apart from a revised tail design, the EcoSport SE is expected to be mechanically identical to the ongoing trims.
