Maruti Swift facelift will come with the K12N power plant, which has been recently introduced on the Dzire facelift as well

Maruti Swift is highly loved by the Indian car buyers for its sporty looks, peppy engine and attractive pricing. However, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd could be planning to give the B1-segment hatchback a mid-life refresh this year to spruce up the already stylish exterior. Here is a digital render of the Swift facelift, courtesy our in-house digital artist Shoeb R. Kalania. But before we talk about the superficial changes that Swift will get with the facelift, let’s talk about the biggest change first, which will be the new engine. The Swift facelift will get a powerful and fuel-efficient version of the outgoing K12M motor. The new motor, which has been dubbed K12N, will come from the Dzire facelift and the Baleno.

The K12N engine displaces the same amount of air-fuel charge as the outgoing K12M mill. The K12N motor belts out 90 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The outgoing K12M motor is, however, short of 7 PS but belts out identical 113 Nm of max. torque. On the Baleno, the more powerful K12N engine is also offered with the Progressive Smart Hybrid system. However, it was omitted out on the Dzire facelift to keep the costs in check and the same is expected with the Swift.

Talking of the fuel efficiency figures, the current K12M motor returns an ARAI-claimed mileage of 21.21 kmpl while the upcoming K12N motor is expected to return over 23 kmpl. Helping the K12N motor produce more power and higher mileage figures are a handful of factors, such as the dual jet injection, dual VVT, low-friction piston rings, and a higher compression ratio.

Coming back to the rendering, it can be seen wearing a sportier bumper with a new radiator grille that has a honeycomb pattern mesh. The foglamp housings are also bolder than before. The only change on the sides could come in the form of the new design for the 15-inch alloy wheels.
