Upcoming Production-Spec Tata HBX Could Be Named As Timero

The production-spec trim of upcoming Tata HBX could be named as Timero. The micro SUV is slated to launch in our country early next year.

According to a recently leaked document, Tata Motors has trademarked the name Tata Timero in India. This name could be the official name of the company’s upcoming mini SUV known as HBX that was revealed in concept form early this year at the 2020 Auto Expo. The upcoming Tata SUV is undergoing via test stages in India and based on the spy images, the SUV is nearing production. The automaker has already confirmed that the upcoming Tata HBX will hit the Indian shores by early 2021. Once launched, it’ll rub shoulders with the likes of Maruti S-Presso and Mahindra KUV100. The car will be based on Tata’s Impact 2.0 design language and will look very similar to the concept model.

Outside, the SUV will feature an upright stance along with a flat bonnet, prominent beltline and plastic cladding on doors. It gets split headlamp setup like Tata Harrier. The production-spec model of the SUV will employs conventional grille up front and bumper along with low-mounted round fog lamps. The side mirrors will also feature integrated side blinkers. Moreover, the production-spec model will not get the silver-coloured bash plate, which was seen on the concept model. Styling bits like LED taillights with a tri-arrow pattern, raked rear windshield, the sporty-looking roof-mounted spoiler will be carried forwards from the concept model. The production-spec model of the SUV will employ 15-inch alloy wheels. In terms of dimensions, the all-new Tata HBX will be 3,840 mm long, 1,822 mm wide1,635 mm tall and will have a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.

The upcoming Tata HBX (Tata Timero) is likely to be powered by the company’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit with direct-injection technology. The entry-level models of the HBX will get propelled by a 1.2-litre NA gasoline motor. The same power plant does duties in the ongoing Tata Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. The all-new Tata HBX will sit under Nexon in the automaker’s stable.
