Upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Fully Revealed

Toyota has officially revealed its upcoming sub-4-meter SUV- Urban Cruiser. It’ll rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.

The Japanese automaker Toyota has officially started accepting bookings of its upcoming sub-4-meter SUV named as Urban Cruiser. The all-new Toyota SUV will be the company’s second rebadged vehicle in our market after Glanza. Toyota Urban Cruiser is based on Maruti Vitara Brezza and will rival with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. In terms of design, upfront, the Toyota Urban Cruiser gets a new grille, which will surely remind you of the Fortuner. Along with a new two-slat grille, the SUV also features a sporty looking bumper with a faux skid plate. Moreover, just like Maruti Vitara Brezza, it employs LED headlamps with fog lamps.

The side profile of the SUV gets a new set of 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The automaker is yet to unveil the trim details officially, and one can expect the base model to employ a different set of alloy units. The rear fascia of the SUV will get a redesigned bumper. Inside, the cabin of the Urban Cruiser will look almost identical to that of the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Nevertheless, the automaker has also added new colour shade options to make the SUV look a bit different from the regular Maruti SUV. Inside, the Urban Cruiser will feature the Toyota logo on the steering wheel along with two-tone cabin. Features like keyless entry, automatic climate control, the push-button start-stop feature will be offered as a standard fitment across all the trims.

The top-of-the-line variant will come loaded with features like automatic rain-sensing wipers, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, cruise control and auto-dimming electrochromic rearview mirror. Mechanically, it’ll derive power from a 1.5-litre K15B, four-cylinder gasoline mill, which churns out 105 PS of peak power and 138 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same power plant does duties in the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6. The automatic trims of the Urban Cruiser will also come mated to SHVS Smart Hybrid System for better fuel-efficiency.
