The all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine will be updated in the S-Cross after the launch of the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.

India’s most-celebrated automobile maker, Maruti Suzuki has revealed its project to develop an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine across its future model's lineup. The first vehicle to receive the newly developed 1.5-litre engine is the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which is bound to get on sale in India sometime next month.

Maruti Suzuki is working on the 1.5-litre diesel-powered powertrain system of the Ertiga and S-Cross and will sooner or later introduce these newly revised models after the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It will be Maruti’s major step forward the in-house newly developed engine that helps reduce the company’s dependence on the Fiat-owned 1.3-litre Multijet diesel motor.

Though a number of rumours surfaced ahead of the launches of the facelifted Maruti Ciaz and the Ertiga last year showed that these vehicles will come to offer an all-new 1.5-litre powertrain option but it failed to become the truth. In fact, these cars continue to get the same 1.3-litre engines as the previous generations. This time around, the possibility of the new Maruti-owned motor is much higher than before.

The much-complimented 1.5-litre engine manufactured by the leading automotive company will be a 4-cylinder version that could churn out the max power of 95 bhp and 225 Nm figure of torque. The mill is believed to make a greater triumph by not solely more powerful performance but higher fuel efficiency as well.

Earlier, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was made available with the Fiat-based 1.6-litre Multijet engine but it was quickly shifted to source the power from the 1.3-litre Multijet unit owing to the boring sales performance. With the upcoming reworked engine, the new Maruti S-Cross will completely get a whopping increase in terms of performance that is slated to make some deal in the market. Also, the engine will make the car conformed to the new BS-VI emission standards that will come into effect in 2020. The arrival of the 1.5-litre engine is regarded as a discontinuance of the outgoing 1.3-litre unit from the Maruti’s production line.
