Amidst all the affordable examples of luxury cars, we’ve found one impressive sportscar as well, one that is a decently old, but hasn’t been driven much and is capable of raising your hair to its end.
Audi is known for manufacturing some of the finest luxury cars in the world. The German brand is also renowned for its sportscars, namely the TT and R8. While the former’s future is in the dark at the moment, the latter has decent popularity among automotive enthusiasts, rich car buyers, and even movie buffs! Driven around by Robert Downey Jr. in the Ironman movies, this car has found a comfortable space among the most brilliant movie cars of all time. Here, we have a used Audi R8, similar to the one in the aforementioned movie series.
The used Audi R8 we have here is posted on droom.in (check out the original classified here). This particular car is a 2009 model and is registered in Pune, Maharashtra. The car sports a 4.2-litre, naturally aspirated, V8, petrol engine. This powerplant is capable of generating a maximum power of 425 PS and a peak torque of 430 Nm.
The fuel economy figure claimed by the advertisement is 7 kmpl, which although quite poor, is decent for a supercar like this. We expect the real-world fuel efficiency to be slightly lower than this though, depending on the driver’s right foot!
The asking price for this used Audi R8 is Rs. 50 lakh. In comparison, a top-trim Toyota Fortuner costs Rs. 43 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi)! For less than 10 lakh over a Toyota Fortuner, you can own an Audi R8 supercar! If you’re wondering how much it would cost to buy a new Audi R8, well, that isn’t possible at the moment. The car is currently temporarily discontinued, and when it wasn’t, it was priced upwards of Rs. 2.7 crore. We expect the 2020 model (which is already available internationally) to enter the Indian market soon with a price tag close to Rs. 3 crore.
The 2020 Audi R8 is powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, the same one that also powers the Lamborghini Huracan. The standard R8 belts out 567 PS and 436 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The performance edition pushes the figures a bit further, with 617 PS and 417 Nm on tap. There is just one transmission option on offer, a 7-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
