Volkswagen T-Roc Sold Out In India, Booking Closed

Volkswagen T-Roc is officially sold out in India. Volkswagen also announced that booking for this SUV is now closed.

Back in March 2020, Volkswagen launched the T-Roc in the Indian market. However, the German carmaker would only import 1000 units of the vehicles. After almost five months, 100 units of the Volkswagen T-Roc has been sold out. The company also confirmed that the booking for the T-Roc is now officially closed. From the beginning, Volkswagen only offers the compact SUV with one single variant priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen T-Roc is offered in a limited number of only 1,000 units in India 

Under the new regulation passed by the Indian government, each foreign car manufacturer is entitled to importing 2000 units without local homologation. In Volkswagen’s case, the German car brand has utilized this opportunity to import 1000 units of Volkswagen T-Roc to India market via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

Volkswagen T-Roc made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo this year. The SUV caught the attention for the visitor thanks to its distinctive styling with robust design elements like large wheel arches as well as the coupe-ish roofline and sloping rear windscreen.

As far as the interior is concerned, the Volkswagen T-Roc is loaded with a host of features including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android compatibility, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof as well as a Vienna leather seats. Apart from these comfort goodies, the Volkswagen T-Roc also comes with other safety equipment likes six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

In India, Volkswagen offers one engine option for this compact SUV. The T-Roc is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine. Mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, this engine is able to churn out a top power of 150 Bhp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.

In the near future, Volkswagen is planning to launch the Volkswagen Taigun which is expected to lock horns against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The new compact SUV will be the first model to be underpinned by the new MQB A0IN which is developed specifically for the Indian market. Volkswagen Taigun is confirmed to be ready for Indian launch in 2021.
