The two new models from Volkswagen which are the Vento and Polo have recently caught testing on Indian roads.

Volkswagen has been reported to fail to capture the Indian market so far. However, in the near future, it will take a great effort to boost a fresh lease of life in its cars by introducing the facelift version for some car models including the Vento and the Polo.

Recently, both of the Vento and Polo have been caught testing on Indian roads with a camouflage. As seen on the spy shots, the cars will not come with any big changes but several tweaks to refresh its aesthetics.

On the exterior, both of the cars undoubtedly will be updated and get sharper in terms of the bumpers and the grilles. As for the Polo, this facelift version will be underpinned largely from its performance-oriented GTi variant with a sportier nose as well as the dual tone rear bumper. The Vento will also witness similar changes.

Regarding the powertrain, it is unlikely for Volkswagen to upgrade the powerhouse including the engine and gearbox options for both cars. As a result, the two vehicles will continuously run on the similar sets of engine as seen on its predecessors.

In particular, the Volkswagen Polo will come firstly with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. This can produce 75 Bhp of power and 95 Nm of torque. The diesel model of the Polo will offer a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit which generates 89 Bhp of power and 230 Nm of torque.

Concerning the Polo GT TDI, it can churn out 108 Bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. The Polo GT TSI, on the other hand, will be equipped with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit. This mill can produce 104 Bhp of power and 175 Nm of torque. There are 2 transmission options available which are a 5-speed manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox.

When it comes to the Volkswagen Vento, it even comes with three engine options.

  • 1.6-litre petrol engine

  • 1.2-litre petrol engine

  • 1.5-litre petrol engine

Of which, two petrol engines and one diesel will be on offer. The 1.6-litre petrol engine can churn out 103 Bhp of power and 153 Nm of torque. This is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The underpowered 1.2-litre turbocharged unit can produce 105 Bhp of power along with 175 Nm of torque. This motor is paired with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The last one which is 1.5-litre diesel engine can generate 108 Bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. It will get a five-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission options.
