Nissan India has confirmed that the Nissan Kicks SUV will be officially introduced to the Indian auto market on January 22. The new SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster

The Nissan Kicks SUV will launch in India on January 22 2019. It is expected to cost Rs 9.5-12.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and will go on to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross, and Renault Duster.

Underpinned by the upgraded M0 platform of Renault instead of the V platform of Nissan, the India-bound Nissan Kicks SUV is larger than the global-spec version. Its dimensions are 4,384 mm; 1,813 mm and 1,656 mm in length, width and height, respectively, with a 2,673 mm wheelbase, surpassing most of its rivals. Many exterior features of the Kicks seem to come from the international version, contributing to the modern yet bold appearance. Some of the exterior features highlights include signature V-motion grille of Nissan, automatic LED projector headlamps with DRLs, rain-sensing wipers,17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels and shark fin antenna, and boomerang taillights in the rear.

The cabin gets a dual-tone colour scheme of black-brown. Here are its features highlights -

The Nissan Kicks cabin will have some segment-leading features

Under the hood of the Nissan Kicks will be the 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol and diesel motor borrowed from the Renault Captur. While the former is good for a maximum power of 106 hp and a peak torque of 143 Nm, the latter can deliver 110 hp against 240 Nm. This January, the Nissan Kicks will be available in only manual options with the transmission duties on the petrol variants being implemented by a 5-speed manual transmission and those on the diesel ones by a 6-speed MT unit. The Japanese auto manufacturer is expected to introduce automatic versions for both the engines in the coming time.

Once launched in India, the Kicks SUV will be competitively priced in the range of Rs 9.5 lakh for the base variant and Rs 12.5 lakh for the top variant. Its expected rivals comprise of the Renault Captur, the Maruti Suzuki S-cross and the current segment dominator, the Hyundai Creta.
