2020 Honda City will be very feature-rich. Here are five segment-first features that will be available in the upcoming next-gen City.

Back in earlier months, the market launch of the new-gen Honda City has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic and the related countrywide lockdown. Luckily, after the lockdown relaxation mandated at some areas, Honda is back on the track to launch the 2020 Honda City in India after months of anticipation.

The Japanese automaker has revealed its plan to sell the new-gen 2020 Honda City alongside the current generation. The company will make the next-gen City available with a wide range of features, many of which are segment-leading. What are they? Let’s take a deep look into the list of segment-first features of 2020 Honda City.

1. Full-LED headlamps

2020 Honda City will be available with segment-first full-LED headlamps which have 9-inline shell LED lamps along with integrated LED DRLs and turn indicators on tap. Thanks to the inclusion of new advanced lamps, the all-new Honda City looks extremely more premium than the outgoing vehicle. It is also safer since the LED lamps provide proper lighting illumination on roads during night time.

2. Alexa support

The new-gen 2020 Honda City will come with Alexa support which is very first in the industry. As we’ve reported earlier, the range-topping version of the new sedan will be equipped with a large 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and WebLink compatibility along with Honda Connect. That said, the Honda Connect will enable a lot of interesting in-car features along with live-tracking vehicle updates.

The highlight of the infotainment system is the Alexa support which allows user to control a lot of features like asking for fuel level or starting AC, etc. through the Alexa home devices.

3. 7.0-inch instrument cluster

Next in the segment-leading features list of the 2020 Honda City will be a 7.0-inch TFT coloured instrument cluster which not only displays all the information and warnings of the vehicle on the way but also makes the City’s interior sportier to look at. This fully-digital instrument panel will be offered with the top-end variants only.

As the new-gen Honda City is primarily targeted the young tech-savvy Indian buyers who love the adrenaline-rush driving experience, Honda will introduce its all-new mid-size sedan with G-Forces meter that shows us the actual G-forces when accelerating, braking or taking turns at high speed. This is also one of the segment-first Honda City 2020 features that we appreciate.

5. Lane watch camera

In truth, the Lane Watch system was first introduced in the Honda CR-V and then the Honda Civic and now it finally comes in handy in the 2020 Honda City as well. One can’t deny that the Lane Watch system is extremely useful. It helps reduce the blind spot when you sit inside the car by sending the feed from the camera to the infotainment display whenever the left indicator works, thereby bringing down the chance of accidents for the vehicle.

The price announcement of the 2020 Honda City will take place in July this year. As per our expectation on the new City, the all-new sedan will cost a premium over the existing model due to the updates. Currently, the Honda City is priced in the range of around Rs 9.91 - 14.31 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will continue the rivalries with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Yaris among others in the mid-size sedan segment.
