While here's a neat digital rendering of the new 2020 4-door Mahindra Thar, right now, the carmaker has no plan to introduce the 4-door model of the SUV.

Mahindra has recently revealed the new-gen Thar to the Indian audience. The new model of the off-roader is scheduled to launch in our market on 2nd October 2020. Currently, the automaker has no plans to introduce a 4-door version of the 2020 Thar, but here’s a digital rendering which shows how a 4-door model of the new-gen Thar could look like. The design and styling of this 4-door Mahindra Thar have been inspired by the Mahindra Armada, which can be considered as the urban-centric version of the Mahindra MM540 and MM775. The Armada was first introduced by Mahindra back in 1993 and discontinued in 2001. Similar to the new-gen Thar, the 4-door model seen in this rendering employs a seven-slat grille and a dual-tone bumper with fog lamp housing.

The halogen round headlamps have been replaced by the rectangular units. Compared to the new two-door version of the SUV, the 2020 4-door model seems to be a bit longer because of the addition of an extra row of seats. Like the two-door model, the 4-door Thar continues to feature black cladding around the wheel arches, body-coloured door handles and tyres. It is based on the company’s new ladder-frame chassis and is expected to employ a new suspension setup. Inside, the cabin of the 2020 4-door Mahindra Thar would be big enough to accommodate 7-passengers at once. Moreover, most of the features will be carried forward from the new model. Talking about the new 2020 Mahindra Thar, it’s the first time that the SUV has been offered with petrol engine and an automatic gearbox.
