2020 Mahindra Thar Attempts A High Jump, To Show-off Off-road Prowess

What Happened?

It is a bit crazy, isn’t it? We’ve seen many amazing Mahindra Thar cars jumping like a bunny before but this scene is a lot more incredible. This video has gone viral on the Internet since yesterday. It shows a new Mahindra Thar 2020 taking a flying leap and landing on the field like a dune buggy.

The video was shot in a slo-mo format that shows us how spectacular the stunt is in an even better way. As the SUV hits the ramp, the independent front suspension absorbs the shock softly. As seen in the video, the Thar almost toppled to the left before landing safely on the field. The new Mahindra Thar continues to stay in shape after the impact and the driver continues to drive it forward. Seems like this particular action was done in order to take photographs only.

Having said that, the 2020 Mahindra Thar really excels in off-road situations. The new Thar is a great off-roader thanks to the electronic aids like traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, and the brake-locking front differential. Also, the new Mahindra Thar comes with a 4x4 drivetrain system as standard together with a low-range transfer case. The new-gen Mahindra Thar even gets a water wading capacity of 650 mm with a ground clearance of 226 mm.

The upcoming SUV will be available in both soft top and hardtop versions. It will derive the power from all-new petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre petrol engine here makes 150 BHP/ 320 Nm, while the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor produces 130 BHP and 320 Nm of peak torque.

Both the mills can be had paired to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. In comparison with the older-gen model, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will be better-loaded car with creature-comforts. The highlighting features on the new Thar 2020 comprise of a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, coloured MID for the instrument cluster, cruise control, steering-mounted controls, roof-mounted weather-resistant speakers, forward-facing rear bench seat among others.

What’s 2020 Mahindra Thar Price List?

Ahead of its official launch, the prices of the new-gen Thar have been leaked on the internet. Reports suggest that the all-new Mahindra Thar prices will start at Rs 9.75 lakh for the base-spec trim and top at Rs 12.25 lakhs for the top-spec model.
