Here’s a walkaround video of the base model of new-gen Mahindra Thar. It derives power from a petrol and diesel engine.

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched the new-gen Thar in the Indian market. The 2020 model of the SUV looks quite identical to that of the Jeep Wrangler. It is offered at a starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level AX trim and goes all the way up to Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec LX variant. The automaker has already started accepting bookings and test drive of the car. As we all know that the top-spec trim of the 2020 Thar is offered with all the bells and whistles, but many people are still confused about the features offered with the base trim of the car. Here’s a recent YouTube video, which shows the base of the 2020 Thar from outside and inside.

This video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel named as ashutosh yadav- rathera. Starting from its looks, upfront, the base model of the car gets blacked-out bumper, while the top-spec model of the SUV employs a blacked-out bumper with a few silver coloured accents. It does not get fog lamps and LED DRLs like the top-spec trims. On the side, the 2020 Mahindra Thar AX variant sits of 16-inch steel rims, while the LX version of the SUV gets 18-inch wheels. Moreover, it gets tubular-type side steps. The entry-level model of the car is offered with soft-top. At the back, it gets 16-inch spare wheel.

Inside, the base model of 2020 Mahindra Thar comes loaded with features like an air conditioner, power steering, the side facing seats, fabric upholstery and a semi-digital instrument console. The SUV derives power from a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol motor. The former develops power and torque outputs of 130hp and 300 Nm, while the latter puts out 150hp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT. The all-new Mahindra Thar is offered in three different roof options- fixed soft top, convertible soft top, and fixed hardtop.
