Filmstar Prithiviraj Sukumaran All Praise for 2020 Mahindra Thar

2020 Mahindra Thar has just gone on sale and it has created quite a buzz among the Indian auto freaks. While the front design of the new SUV has becomes a slightly debatable topic around the auto forums, the all-new Mahindra Thar still receives a lot of compliments from the enthusiasts, including the Indian celebrities. Recently, the famous Indian film actor, director and producer, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is also a major automobile fanatic, has revealed on Twitter that he had test-driven the all-new Thar and come back totally impressed. The superstar even tweeted to Mahindra’s big boss, Anand Mahindra about his thought.

The Indian market has experienced quite a long wait for the introduction of new-gen Thar. After months of anticipating, teasing and spying, the all-new iconic SUV has come under the spotlight, revealing almost all details of the upcoming model, except for the pricing. Brochure scan also revealed the features and specifications of the new Thar before it’s launched on October 2, 2020.

Just like others, Prithiviraj also thinks that the new Thar’s exterior design is polarizing but it still has many excellent elements on tap. Interestingly, he even tagged Mahindra’s Chairman, Anand Mahindra on his tweet and confirmed that it’s not a paid endorsement. It should be noted that the test drives of the 2020 Mahindra Thar are now underway in almost 120 cities across the country.

Based on the Gen3 platform, the Mahindra Thar 2020 has been updated with many new features, thereby carrying all the bells and whistles of a contemporary SUV while still retaining the superior off-road prowess. Mahindra is offering the Thar with two engine options – 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel. The former puts out 150 HP/320 Nm of rated output, while the latter belts out 130 HP against 300 Nm. The gearbox options include a 6-speed stick shift and an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic. The 2020 Thar comes standard with a 4X4 transfer case with a low-range gearbox and mechanically-locking rear differential. Prices of the 2020 Thar start at Rs. 9.80 lakh and top out at Rs. 13.75 lakh.
