Mahindra Scorpio in its new-gen iteration will make its way to the showroom floors this year. Take a look at this rendering of 2021 Mahindra Scorpio to know how it will look like.

Mahindra Scorpio is on sale in the Indian market for almost two decades now and without any major change. However, the carmaker is currently working on a new-gen model of the Scorpio, which is currently in its final phase of testing. It is likely to go on sale by May this year. The new-gen Scorpio's test mule was recently spotted in its production-spec avatar. Sadly, it was heavily camouflaged and didn't reveal much of the car. But our in-house design artist – Shoeb R. Kalania has managed to create a digital rendering of the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio, based on his keen observation of the spy photos.

The Scorpio looks more modern and youthful in the above rendering than its current-gen avatar. While the design continues to packs in similar lines as the outgoing model, it certainly feels news. On the front, the 2021 Scorpio gets an upright and mean-looking face. In doing so, the larger grille flanked by equally-big headlamps helps it for sure. The headlamp units also get an upswept LED DRL with twin-pod LED projectors. The bumper is a new unit too and gets redesigned fog lamps housing which features C-shaped LED DRLs.

Moving over to the sides, the 2021 Scorpio retains the outgoing model’s boxy profile in this rendering, as seen in the spy shots. The designer has also added a black cladding over the wheel arches. Interestingly, the new-gen Scorpio is expected to come with 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the stepped roof is likely to be replaced with a rather flat one, while the chunky roof rails will continue to hold their position. At the rear, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will sport a slew of changes to harmonize with the front and side profile of the car.

Powertrain options on the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will include a 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L diesel. The mStallion turbocharged petrol unit will be the same, that does duties on the new-gen Mahindra Thar. It is expected to push out 190 PS against 390 Nm here. The oil burner, on the other hand, will continue to be the same 2.2L mHawk unit.  These engines will be offered with two transmission choices – 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. However, the 4WD layout will be offered as an optional extra.
