2021 Tata Safari Imagined with Off-road Essentials to Become Expedition-ready

Tata Motors has recently announced the news, that almost every Tata fan was waiting for. Yes! The brand has confirmed the arrival of all-new Tata Safari, and it will be going on sale by January 26. Tata Motors has tried to play a little with the names here, as the brand will be launching the Gravitas (7-seater Tata Harrier) with the Safari moniker. Interestingly, the Harrier is a capable SUV, and the same is expected to be the case with the new Tata Safari. The upcoming Safari was showcased as the Gravitas to the masses at the 2020 Auto Expo. But how will it look like with some off-road gears fixed on to it? Here’s a neat rendering from our rendering expert – Shoeb R. Kalania that depicts the same.

The new Tata Safari looks ready to face the most treacherous terrains present on the earth in the above rendering. The designer has managed to fit a rugged scuff plate on the front facet, which can save its nose from almost anything. Also, the radiator grille is a blacked-out unit now. With chunky mud-terrain tyres wrapped on a set of off-road rims, the Safari looks off-road ready in this rendering. To keep the body safe from rocks and boulders, it gets rock sliders which feature chequered plates to double up as side steps.

The bling of chrome from door handles is now gone, as they are now finished in matte black paint scheme for a tough appeal. On the top, the Safari in this rendering features a massive LED light bar, which helps illuminate the trails when it is dark. It gets a massive roof box as well, to increase the overall practicality quotient. This off-road-ready Safari dons the same Olive Green paint job as the Tata Harrier Camo Edition. However, the brake callipers wear a shade of red here.

The new Tata Safari is likely to come with the same FCA-sourced 2.0L diesel engine as the Harrier but in a higher state of tune. In the Harrier, this oil burner develops a peak power output of 170 PS and max torque of 350 Nm. The gearbox options on the Safari will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Talking of the prices, Tata Safari is expected to go on sale with a slight premium over the Harrier, which starts at Rs. 13.84 lakh.
