Volkswagen, with its Indian Plan 2.0, intends to start fresh in the Indian market with local development of cars, platforms, and engines with Skoda leading the charge. Volkswagen and Skoda will introduce 4 all-new cars in India before the end of the next financial year. Here’s a look at the upcoming VW-Skoda cars with expected launch dates in India. SKODA VISION IN

Skoda should launch the Vision IN concept-based SUV in April-June of 2021, with the production-ready version of the SUV expected to be revealed early next year. The all-new model will be based on the heavily localized MQB AO IN platform, which will also be shared with the upcoming new Skoda Rapid.

Powering the new Vision IN-based SUV will be either a 110 PS 1-litre turbo petrol mated to a 6-speed manual or auto gearbox, or a 148 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 7-speed DSG. The new model should be priced around Rs 9 lakh-15 lakh, a range which will see it compete with the likes of the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta.

VOLKSWAGEN TAIGUN

Volkswagen will introduce the production-ready of the Taigun mid-size SUV around the Diwali festive period next year. The all-new model will share the platform with the Skoda Vision IN with which it will share powertrain options as well. Rivaling the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, it should be priced competitively around Rs 9 lakh-15 lakh.

ALL-NEW VW VENTO

Volkswagen will introduce an all-new mid-size sedan to replace the aging platform and like the others, this new sedan will also use the heavily localized MQB AO IN platform. The visual design is reported to be inspired by the VW Virtus sedan and will compete with the Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, and the Honda City.

Powering the all-new VW sedan will be 1-litre turbo-petrol which makes 110 PS/175 Nm of peak power and torque and will be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter auto. It should be priced around Rs 8.5lakh – 13 lakh when it launches around the Diwali season next year.

ALL-NEW SKODA RAPID

Skoda will also launch the replacement for the aging Rapid sedan, and it will be based on the new locally produced MQB AO IN platform. It will launch in early 2022 and will compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and the Maruti Ciaz. Prices should range from Rs 8 lakh-13 lakh. It will be powered by a 1-litre turbo 3-pot petrol which will be offered with the outgoing Rapid, VW Vento, and the Polo very soon. It makes 110 PS/200 Nm of peak power and torque and the engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter auto transmission.
