The next-generation Honda City is nearing its India launch, and its biggest competitor will be the new Hyundai Verna facelift.

Honda City is one of the most anticipated cars in India at the moment. Due to the pandemic outbreak, the Japanese carmaker had to postpone the media drive as well as the car’s launch. Now, it seems like Honda is back on track and will be launching the next-generation City in our market very soon. The car will go against Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, and VW Vento. Its biggest competitor, however, will be the Hyundai Verna. Unlike other cars in the segment, both the upcoming Honda City and the new Hyundai Verna have been thoroughly updated in 2020.

Hyundai Verna vs Honda City

While the next-generation Honda City will surely be a great car, there are a few features on the Hyundai Verna facelift that make it a steal deal. Here, we shall list the top five features of the new Verna that won’t be offered in the upcoming City.

Fully Digital Instrument Cluster

Hyundai Verna is the only car in its class to offer a fully digital instrument cluster, and that will remain the case even after the launch of the next-generation Honda City, which will have traditional dials in the instrument cluster with an MID in between.

Eco Coating Technology

Hyundai Verna also offers Eco Coating Technology, which is essentially a cleaning system for the car’s AC system. It is useful in removing foul odours from the cabin and keeping the air fresh for the occupants. This is another segment-first feature offered by the Verna.

Hands-Free Electronic Boot Lid

Another one of Hyundai Verna’s long list of segment-first features includes an electronic tailgate. The boot lid of the car can be operated in a hands-free manner. All you need to do is stand close to the boot of the car for three seconds with the key in your pocket, and the car will sense your presence and open the boot automatically. This feature adds convenience to the car.

Diesel Automatic Option

Lastly, the next-gen Honda City will have a diesel option, but it will come paired to only a 6-speed manual transmission. There will be an automatic gearbox on offer – a CVT – but only on the petrol version. The Hyundai Verna, on the other hand, has multiple automatic gearboxes on offer for all engine types. It offers a 6-speed torque converter on the diesel models, a CVT on the naturally aspirated petrol ones, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic on the turbo-petrol variants.

Yet another segment-first feature, the ventilated seats help keep the driver and front passenger cool during hot summer days. You get an additional layer of cooling from the seats, which helps keep your back sweat-free.
