From full-size 7-seater Tata Gravitas to Altroz Turbo, here's the list of 5 upcoming cars from Tata to launch in India in 2021-22.

For the last few years, Tata Motors has witnessed remarkable growth in both the range of products and the sales number. The home-grown automaker is the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India and has become well-known for some of the safest and best-looking cars in the country. All of these have resulted in an increase in the sales number of Tata’s sales number, which has helped the domestic automaker become the third-largest automaker in India (according to the October record) behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. With models like the Harrier, Nexon, Altroz and Tiago, Tata Motors has gained a large audience base. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, modern and youth-friendly products will continue to be launched by Tata. Below are the top five Tata cars which are expected to be launched in India next year.

Tata Gravitas

Among the five upcoming Tata cars, the Tata Gravitas will be launched in India first. While the SUV was initially anticipated to be launched in this festive season, the home-grown automaker has not revealed any plan for launching the SUV. First showcased at the Gevena Motor Show, the Gravitas was later revealed in the Auto Expo 2020. The Gravitas is actually a seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier with a larger rear overhang to fit the additional seat row. The rest of the design has been kept almost unchanged with just some minor alterations to the front and side profile. The feature list is expected to include a 9-speaker audio system, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an automatic air conditioning system, a large sunroof and multiple driving modes.

The 7-seater SUV will receive its power from a BS-VI 2.0-litre oil burner which can generate 170 PS against 350 Nm and is mated to either a 6-speed MT/AT. Once launched, the Gravitas is likely to be priced more highly than the Tata Gravitas by INR 1 lakh.

Tata Altroz EV

Electric vehicles are increasing in popularity in India, thanks to its environmentally-friendly nature. Tata Motors also do not want to miss this marvellous opportunity. After the success of the Nexon EV and the Tigor EV, the next electric vehicle from Tata is expected to be the Tata Altroz EV. The Altroz will come with a new grille without the air vents and blue accents to make it recognizable as an electric vehicle. The EV will be equipped with a wide range of top-notch features including the automatic air conditioner, a touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a Harman-sourced powerful audio system. The overall design will be kept unchanged from the donor vehicle.

The Tata Altroz EV is likely to borrow the 30 kWh Lithium-Ion battery package from the Tata Nexon EV which will help the vehicle travel for up to 350 km per charge. Tata will provide the Altroz EV with a portable charger and a wall-mounted one.

Tata HBX

The home-grown automaker is all set to launch the Tata HBX, the fashionable and premium entry-level SUV which is rumoured to be named the Hornbill. Actually being a buffed-up hatchback, the HBX will compete against the KUV100. First debuted at the Auto Expo 2020, the HBX soon attracted people’s attention. The SUV is expected to have a competitive starting price of around INR 5 lakh. The production version has also been confirmed to be bear a strong resemblance to the showcased model in terms of design.

Tata Motors should be considered to be the pioneer in the EV segment. Besides the Altroz, another upcoming EV from Tata Motors is the Tiago EV. The regular Tiago is well-known for its styling, features and competitive price tag. It is not surprising that an electric version of the hatchback is expected to be introduced to the Indian auto market.

The car will receive its power from a 21.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which can help the vehicle achieve a driving range of up to 213 kilometres in a single charge. The car can be fully charged in around 6 to 8 hours; it can also be charged in 1.5 hours with a fast charger.

Tata Altroz Turbo

Besides an electric version of the hatchback, a more powerful version is also expected to be launched to help the home-grown automaker make the most of the Altroz. To increase its competitiveness, a turbo 1.0-litre 3-cyl motor will be added to the powertrains of the Altroz. This motor can deliver 100 BHP and will be coupled with a DCT unit. The Altroz Turbo is also likely to get several styling alterations to fit with the performance such as a body kit and exterior and interior blackened components.
