The company is also making every endeavour to introduce new models with higher quality to the market. One of the strengths of this Indian home-grown carmaker is SUVs. The company is developing new versions of numerous SUVs which are currently on sale in India. This article is going to provide you with a list of six upcoming Mahindra SUV models in India which will be launched in the foreseeable future with their information and images.
Mahindra has paid much attention to the emerging but potential EV segment in India with a big investment in EVs. The first EV from the manufacturer for the domestic market will be the e-KUV100, which has already made its debut and is expected to be launched this year at an estimated price of INR 8.5 lakh.
The vehicle is based on the KUV100, but it is powered by a battery package instead of an ICE. The e-KUV 100 will borrow the powertrain options from the Mahindra eVerito unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be powered by a 15.9kWh Lithium-ion battery which will help the SUV cover a range of 147 km per charge. The vehicle can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in just 9 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 186 kmph. The EV is claimed to be available with fast charging which allows the battery to be charged from 0 to 80% in only an hour. The EV is expected to be equipped with numerous advanced features which include location tracking, parking sensors, overspeeding warning, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and cabin pre-cooling. Once launched, it will become one of the most affordable electric vehicles in India.
Mahindra KUV100 facelift
Being the first micro SUV which went on sale in the country, the Mahindra KUV100 is neither a great success nor a complete failure. Up to now, no official information on the new model of the KUV100 is available; however, the below rendering shows its expected appearance if the new model is launched in the future, expectedly by 2020. The KUV100 in the image below borrows the grille from the XUV500 and is equipped with XUV500-inspired headlamps. These give the SUV a more attractive appearance.

Mahindra XUV300 electric
Having established some prestige in the sub-4-metre compact SUV segment, the Mahindra XUV300 is expected to receive an electric version in the foreseeable future, perhaps latter this year at INR 18 lakh. The electric SUV will receive its power from a 380-volt battery unit along with another unit with low power. The 380-volt unit will help the vehicle travel approximately 250 km on end without charging. The EV is expected to speed up from 0 kmph to 100 kmph in 11 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 kmph, which will be suitable for everyday usage. The vehicle is likely to be launched in India by 2020 at INR 18 lakh.
New-gen Mahindra XUV500
The 2020 Mahindra XUV500 was spied testing for the first time in 2019 and is slated for launch in mid-2021 at a starting price of INR 14 lakh. Underpinned by a brand-new platform¸ the new XUV500’s styling is expected to be quite different from that of the existing model. Furthermore, the vehicle’s dimensions are also likely to increase, which means that the cabin will be more amber, offering a larger third seat row. Besides these, both the exterior and interior also get some other minor alterations. Specifically, the SUV will come with LED headlights and fog lights in the front and LED taillights in the rear. As regards the interior, the new XUV500 will come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a new panoramic sunroof.

Regarding the powertrain options, the new vehicle is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo gasoline burner and a 2.2-litre turbo oil unit. The transmission options will include a standard MT and an optional AT unit.
New Mahindra Thar
Being one of the most hotly-anticipated SUVs to be launched in 2020 at INR 10 lakh, the new Mahindra Thar was showcased at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The new vehicle will be upgraded inside out and also in terms of the powertrain options.
The SUV will be underpinned by a new platform. A hardtop version will also be available. Some of the new features include a touchscreen infotainment unit and front-facing seats. It will receive the power from a new BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre 4-cyl oil burner which can also be found on the Mahindra XUV500 and is coupled with a 6-speed MT and an AT unit. The SUV will also come with a 4WD system. Moreover, a 190 BHP 2.0-litre turbo gasoline burner which belongs to the Stallion family showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 is also expected to serve as the power source for the new-gen Thar. All of these contribute to the enhancement of the SUV's off-road capabilities.
New Mahindra Scorpio
Another upcoming Mahindra SUV which will receive an upgrade next year is the Scorpio. The vehicle has been spied testing several times. Though heavily camouflaged, the test mule revealed that the SUV will grow larger in size and feature a more masculine styling. The facelifted Mahindra Scorpio will also come with a more modern cabin, a new chassis and a more powerful motor.
Specifically, some of the outstanding interior features of the new SUV will include a wide touchscreen infotainment unit, automatic climate control, parking cameras, etc. The Scorpio will continue to receive its power from the tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk oil burner but in a different state of tune. The transmission options might be undertaken by a manual and automatic transmission. The new Scorpio is expected to be priced in the range from INR 11 lakh to 14 lakh.
Mahindra XUV300 Sports
Making its first debut at the Auto Expo 2020, the Mahindra XUV300 Sports is the more powerful version of the Mahindra XUV300. It is expected to be introduced to the Indian auto market in late 2020 and priced from INR 10 lakh to INR 12 lakh. The SUV will receive its power from a 1.2-litre 3-cyl gasoline burner which can generate 130 BHP against 230 Nm. The new XUV300 Sports will come with new body decorations like the 'Sportz' lettering, an all-black interior paint scheme with red highlights.
The home-grown auto manufacturer is claimed to be developing a new model which will be positioned between the XUV300 and the XUV500 in the automaker's lineup. Once launched, the SUV will compete against the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. Expected to be launched in mid-2021 at a price of INR 11 lakh, this vehicle will more effectively compete against the two above-mentioned rivals since these two are priced at a price range that the XUV500 cannot compete.
Mahindra TUV300 facelift
The last vehicle in the list of upcoming Mahindra SUVs is the Mahindra TUV300, which has been spied testing on Indian road several times before. The sales number of the Mahindra TUV300 is quite low in the past time and it is time for the domestic automaker to give the SUV an upgrade to recover its sales. The SUV is expected to be launched in the Indian auto market in late 2020 at an estimated price of INR 9 lakh.
