Kia Sonet recently made to the headlines for the breaking the record for the highest number of bookings in a day that any Kia car has recorded in the country to date. A total of 6,523 units of Sonet were booked on the first day itself. These numbers speak for the anticipation with which the Indian crowd is waiting for the Sonet. Kia Sonet Rendered in 7-seater Avatar Via Vector Drawing

This vector drawing-based rendering was created by DK Vector, and we came across it via his Instagram account. In the rendering, the 7-seater Sonet looks identical to the regular 5-seater version of the car up till the B-pillar. Beyond which, the car has been stretched to accommodate the 3rd row and bigger rear quarter glass. With a longer rear overhang in place, the 7-seater Sonet looks proportionate. But, with the increased length, it will surpass the 4-meter length barrier. Thus, it will not enjoy the tax benefits that apply to cars shorter than the 4-meter mark.

If the unfortunate turn fortunate, and Kia plans to launch a 7-seater version of the Sonet, it will compete against the Maruti XL6. While Kia can use the 1.5L 4-cylinder N/A unit from the Seltos, the Sonet already gets the 1.5L oil burner, which will be a big advantage up its sleeves to fight the petrol-only Maruti XL6. Talking of the 5-seater version of the Sonet, it will be launched by mid-September. Kia will offer it with a total of 3 engine options – 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel. The latter will be offered in 2 states of tune – 100 PS and 115 PS. The 1.2L N/A petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol, on the other hand, will churn out 83 PS and 120 PS, respectively. There will be 5 gearbox options to choose from - 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, 6-speed iMT, and 7-speed DCT.
