Wondering how frugal is the all-new Hyundai i20 with the 1.2L Kappa motor? Read here to find out the answer.

Hyundai i20 has managed to receive a warm response from the Indian audience in its new-gen avatar. It competes with Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, VW Polo and the likes. The all-new i20 is offered with a total of 3 engine options – 1.2L Kappa, 1.0L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel. While the 1.2L Kappa petrol motor is the least powerful engine option available with the new-gen i20, it isn’t considered as a frugal one. But to find out its fuel consumption in real-world conditions, we came across a YouTube video which was uploaded by Hariom Aggarwal on his channel. In the video, the host starts by filling up the fuel tank to the brim.

After driving it for some kilometres, the host fills up the tank again to the brim. Following which, the host starts calculating the fuel consumption by dividing the number of kilometres clocked with the total fuel consumed, which here were 71 km and 4.04 litres, respectively. As a result, the host received a fuel consumption of 17.57 km to a litre. It is indeed a respectable figure of a car of this size that comes with an 83 PS 1.2L naturally-aspirated motor.

Talking of other engine options, the new-gen Hyundai i20 is available with a 100 PS/240Nm turbocharged diesel engine and a 120 PS/172 Nm 1.0L turbo-petrol motor. The gearbox options on the new-gen i20 include a 5-speed MT, CVT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. Sadly, the diesel variants miss out on the option of an automatic gearbox.
