Ambulance Rolls Over Ford Figo (4-star L-NCAP), All Passengers Safe

Ford Figo is the smallest offering from the American carmaker in the country. It is also one of the best-handling cars that are available in the sub-10 lakh rupee price bracket. In terms of safety, the Indian-made Ford Figo has scored a 4-star crash test rating at the Latin-NCAP crash test. Thus, Figo has performed well in such circumstances time and again. This time around, here’s a Ford Figo that met with an accident with an Ambulance (Force Traveller). The mishap occurred when an ambulance coming from the opposite direction rolled over as a result of sharp manoeuvre that driver made to save a biker, who overtook the ambulance quite abruptly.

However, the amount of damages that the Figo suffered is fairly less, considering how the accident took place. Also, the ambulance was at high speed, thus it rolled over with the sharp steering input. If it was carrying any patient, is not yet known. Talking of the Figo, it ended up with a collapsed front-end with damages to the bonnet, bumper, headlamps, radiator grille, and driver-side fender. All of these damages appear to be superficial in pictures. Thus, all occupants in the Figo walked out it safely with no injuries, whatsoever.

The Figo comes loaded with a slew of safety equipment as standard fitment across the range. It gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belts alarms, rear parking sensors, engine immobilizer, and high-speed alerts. The range-topping trim, however, gets the increased safety net of rear paring camera and 6 airbags.

Ford offers Figo with 2 engine options – 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel. The former is a 3-pot petrol motor that puts out a peak power output of 96 PS and max torque of 119 Nm. The oil burner, on the other hand, is a 4-cylinder turbocharged affair, which is capable of putting out a rated output of 100 PS and 215 Nm. Both of these engines are offered with 5-speed gearbox as standard, however, Ford is planning to introduce the option of a 6-speed AT soon. The prices for the Ford Figo start at Rs. 5.49 lakh, which makes it a direct rival to the likes of Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and more.
