Ramesh Babu started off his career as a hairdresser and then established his own car rental business.

What’s his success story?

As some other rags-to-riches story, Ramesh Babu also didn’t have an easy childhood. Ramesh’s father passed away when he was only at the age of nine, left his family mired in poverty and conflict. To earn the living, the Babu family had to rent out his father’s salon in Brigade Road to his uncle for only 5 Rupees each day. Those years were not pleasant, as Ramesh, along with his grandmother, his mother, and siblings, were struggling for basic essentials like food and clothing. As a result, Ramesh was forced to drop out of the school during his pre-university years to go for a job instead.

Ramesh had an uneasy childhood when his father passed way when he was just 9.

Ramesh took over the hair salon from his uncle, named Inner Space, started his hairdressing career and gained great popularity across the city then. Working as a barber paid fairly well, and by saving and cutting down on the expenditure, Ramesh accumulated a good amount of money. In 1994, Ramesh bought the first car of his life, a Maruti Omni and put it out for rent, which, helped the man make a lot more money. Until 2004, he owned as many as seven cars, all of which are used for rental purposes. Incredibly, until now, the number of vehicles in his company, Ramesh Tours and Travels have mounted up to more than 200. His car collection is now nothing short of a huge fortune.
