This Tata Nexon base variant has been modified to become better-looking with several aftermarket accessories, the most important of which is the set of 18-inch alloy rims

Base variants are usually not as good-looking as top-spec ones of the same model. Chrome components and other styling details are generally used by many automakers to differentiate the lower trims and higher ones. Nevertheless, this Tata Nexon XE base variant looks quite brilliant, thanks to its new alloy rims instead of the stock steel rims without wheel caps. These rims are sourced from Prestige, a brand based in Delhi. The car is equipped with low profile rubber to fit with the large wheels, which may slightly reduce the ride quality. Moreover, the car gets a pair of aftermarket roof rails; however, instead of being functional units, they are only added with a view to enhance the appearance of the car.

The rest of the car has been kept intact. On the base XE variant, turn indicators and the fog light housing are not provided as standard. The halogen turn indicators have been integrated to the fog light housing, which looks fashionable. The front air dam misses out on the bright-coloured elements on the tri-arrow mesh.

Tata cars are well-known for its safety; the Tata Nexon is not an exception and is one of the safest cars in India. The 2020 Tata Nexon is packed with numerous safety features which include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, front seat-belt reminder, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill holder, rear parking sensors, etc.

The powertrains of the Tata Nexon have also experienced no modifications. The SUV keeps under its hood two motor options. The first one is a 1.2-litre turbo gasoline burner which can deliver 120 PS against 170 Nm; the second one is a 1.5-litre turbo oil burner which can generate 110 PS against 260 Nm. The transmission duties are undertaken by a standard 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT on select variants. The Tata Nexon is currently priced from INR 6.94 lakh to INR 12.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and competes against the Marutii Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
