Maruti Alto 800

If it is about cars, Maruti will surely be a part of it. Therefore, the first on our list is the smallest Maruti on sale in the country 'Alto 800'. This tiny little hatchback starts as low as Rs. 2.95 lakhs and returns an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figure of 22.5 kmpl. It is also offered with the option of CNG as well. On the CNG, it boasts of an ARAI rated fuel economy of 31 km per kg.

Renault Kwid

The Renault Kwid is the next contender here with an ARAI rated fuel economy of 25 kmpl with the 0.8L engine option and 23 kmpl with the bigger 1.0L engine option. Talking out the power output of these engines, the smaller 0.8L unit belts out 54 BHP/72 Nm, while the 1.0L unit whips out 72 BHP/91 Nm. The prices for the Kwid start at Rs. 2.92 lakh.

Maruti S-Presso

Maruti S-Presso is the funkiest car here in terms of design. With a starting price of Rs. 3.69 lakh, it comes with a 1.0L K-series motor that puts out 67 BHP of max. power and 90 Nm of peak torque. Alongside the 5-speed manual gearbox, it is offered with an option of 5-speed AMT. It has a claimed ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 21.7 kmpl. The S-Presso comes with SUV-like styling giving it a distinctive appearance in comparison to its competitors. Soon, Maruti will also be introducing a CNG variant of the S-Presso in the market.

Tata Tiago

Tata Tiago is the carmaker’s smallest offering in the Indian market. It starts at Rs. 4.60 lakhs and comes with a 1.2L petrol engine that belts out 84 BHP and 113 Nm as its peak power and torque output. The Tiago returns an ARAI claimed figure of 23.884 kmpl. It is also offered with 2 transmission options – 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT.

Maruti WagonR

The tall-boy WagonR is also a frugal offering with a starting price of Rs. 4.45 lakh. It comes with 2 engine options – 1.0L petrol and 1.2L petrol. The ARAI claimed mileage figure for the 1.0L engine is 21.79 kmpl, while the bigger 1.2L returns a fuel economy of 20.52 kmpl. It is also available with a CNG variant with a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 33.54 km/kg.
