BMW 330i M Sport Vs Audi A6 45 TFSI, Acceleration Test - VIDEO

At IndianAuto, we do a lot of acceleration comparison tests between two vehicles. While most of the tests you see are mainly for vehicles under Rs 25 lakh, today we’ve got two vehicles which are more expensive and powerful. It is battle of the German premium sedans today, BMW 3 Series vs Audi A6. The seventh-generation 3 Series launched last year, and the sedan has been selling very well since. The Audi A6 is from a segment above the BMW but since both models here make similar power figures and are priced in the same ballpark, we decided to pit them against each other.

As you’ll see in the video, we’ve got a BMW 3 Series 330i in M Sport Trim vs Audi’s A6 in 45 TFSI trim. Both vehicles will get three runs to post the fastest 0-100 kmph times, and we'll compare the best times for the two. The 3 Series posts a 6.39 second first run to 100 kmph, the A6 doing the same a second slower at 7.39 seconds. For the second run, the 3 Series reaches 100 kmph in 6.52 seconds while the A6 is a second slower again at 7.53 seconds. Third and final time around, the BMW posts its fastest 0-100 kmph time of 6.25 seconds and the Audi posts its slowest time at 7.73 seconds. The A6, being a segment higher is a bigger vehicle in general, and weighs 180 kgs more than the 3 series. Also, the A6 is front-wheel drive only in the 45 TFSI variant. If it were all-wheel-drive, the times could’ve been much closer than the 1-second average gap between the two.

The BMW 3 Series 330i M Sport has priced at Rs 48.49 lakh, ex-showroom. It is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol powering the rear wheels that churn out max power and torque figures of 255 PS/400 Nm and is mated to an 8-speed automatic. The Audi A6 45 TFSI comes in at Rs 59.43 lakh, ex-showroom. Powering it is a 2-litre turbo-petrol as well, but here it sends power to the front-wheels instead. The engine makes 241 PS and 370 Nm of peak power and torque respectively, and it is paired to a 7-speed DSG auto.
