Cars in India with Air Purifiers - New Hyundai Creta to Kia Sonet

Air quality is a big concern for the people living in urban areas, especially when the winter is approaching. During the winter season, air pollution tends to reach an alarming level. In metropolis cities like Delhi, the AQI (Air Quality Index) figure can hit 300 or 400 in some areas, posing a huge threat to people’s health.

Polluted air can cause a lot of issues for human’s health in the long terms. Moreover, low-quality air can also create some notable symptoms like headache, sore throat, breathing problem, fever and so on. To make the matter worst, the ongoing respiratory pandemic is still wreaking and damaging the health of the community. More than ever, people are seeking solutions to increase the air quality. Air purifiers have become hot-selling items. To strengthen the protection against the low air quality problems, car manufacturers start to offer in-built air purifiers. Here are five cars that come with air purifiers in the Indian market.

New Hyundai Creta

Hyundai launched the 2020 Hyundai Creta earlier this year. The new-gen model is offered with some new features including in-built air purifier. The air purifier comes with a big display located on the armrest. This screen shows the real-time level of dust particles and pollutants inside the car. Moreover, the car occupants can adjust the setting of the air purifier from the infotainment touchscreen as well as the armrest-mounted display. You can even control the air purifier system through your phone thanks to BlueLink system. There are three fan speed modes for the air cleaning system, namely, auto, turbo and normal. On Turbo mode, the fan will run at the fastest speed, which brings the AQI level down faster.

This feature is available in select variants. It is available from the Creta SX variant upwards. This variant is currently available at Rs 13.57 lakh.

Kia Seltos

Kia Seltos is a direct competitor against the Hyundai Creta in the compact SUV segment. Just like other siblings, Kia Seltos is also offered with an air purifier system. In fact, it was the first car in the segment to provide in-built air purifier. Kia also integrates a 2.16-inch LED display on the armrest, which shows both AQI figures outside and inside the vehicle. The air purifier is also connected to the UVO connectivity system, allowing you to control it through your smartphone. It is claimed by Kia that the Seltos’s Smart Pure Air Purifier with HEPA filter can filter out 95 percent of pollutants inside the car in less than haft an hour. What’s make the Kia Seltos special is that the Seltos comes with perfume dispenser with 12 fragrance options.

Kia Seltos is offering the air purifier and perfume diffuser in Kia HTX, HTX+, GTX and GTX+. It also means that you will have to pay from Rs 13.34 lakh (HTX).

Kia Sonet

Kia Sonet was just launched in India in September. The sub-compact SUV has become a hit in the market and received positive responses from Indian car buyers. One major attraction of the Kia Sonet is its long list of equipment which includes an advanced air purifier system. Launched after the Coronavirus break-out, Kia has stepped up the game by providing a virus protection function for the air purifier system along with N29 air filter, all of which are not available on the Kia Seltos. With these new functions, the Kia Sonet can offer the buyers with a peace of mind, especially during the current pandemic situation. Similar to the Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet also comes with perfume dispenser.

The air purifier is available from the Kia Sonet HTX Plus upwards. This variant is currently priced at Rs 11.65 lakh.

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai Venue was launched last year. At launch, it was the only vehicle in the mass market to come with an air purifier. However, compared to the newer models, the air purifier system on the Hyundai Venue is quite simple. It can only be operated manually and does not come with LED display or provides different settings. You can just turn the air purifier on or off. It does not read the AQI level inside the car as well. The air purifier on Hyundai Venue is removable.

Hyundai Venue is including air purifier on the top-of-the-line SX+ and SX (O) variants. These variants are priced from Rs 10.91 lakh.

New Hyundai i20

It seems that Hyundai is targeting to expand the use of the air purifiers across its range of vehicles. After providing this premium features on SUVs like Hyundai Venue and Hyundai Creta, Hyundai has introduced the air purifier function on the premium hatchback Hyundai i20. Hyundai i20 is also the first hatchback in India to come with an in-cabin air purifier. Similar to the one available on the Hyundai Venue, Hyundai i20’s air purifier is removable. However, unlike the one used on Venue, Hyundai i20’s unit has air quality indicator which reads the AQI inside the cabin.
