Gone are the days when the Indian buyers took prices as the only deciding factor when buying a new vehicle and safety becomes one of the most important priorities for the customers today. While all cars currently on sale in India have at least one airbag on offer, some automakers want to take a step forward in terms of safety and introduce up to 6 airbags and more in the higher-spec variants of their vehicles. Here are such cars with 6 airbags in India along with prices.

1. Toyota Yaris (7 Airbags)

Toyota Yaris may not score well in terms of sales as compared to the models like Maruti Ciaz or Honda City but one can’t deny that the Yaris offers the highest number of active and passive safety features. While the other competitors are offering 6 airbags in their top-end models only, the Toyota Yaris is the only car in its segment to come with seven airbags as standard right from the base variant.

That said, all trim levels of the C-segment sedan come with dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain shield airbags and knee airbags for the driver that makes it the safest car under 10 lakhs, not to mention many other advanced safety features like disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS, EBD, traction control, ESP, front and rear parking sensors, etc.

In the current market, the Toyota Yaris goes petrol-only. The sedan is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine option making 108 PS of power and 140 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed CVT transmission. The Toyota Yaris price starts at Rs 8.76 Lakh and tops off at Rs 14.18 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2. Ford Ecosport (6 airbags)

Safety has been a matter of utmost importance for Ford India when it comes to the production of the vehicle, which can be seen in some Ford cars like the Ecosport. Earlier this year, Ford introduced the BS6-spec version of the Ecosport to the Indian market. Apart from some major changes made to the car’s mechanicals, the Ecosport also gets a suite of safety equipment including 6 airbags (front, side, curtain side airbags) for the top-end variant. Dual front airbags are standard across the Ecosport’s range.

Powering the 2020 Ford Ecosport is an all-new dragon-series petrol engine and a diesel option. 3. Hyundai Elite i20 (6 airbags)

India’s second-largest carmaker Hyundai brings in the next car in the list of cars with 6 airbags in India – the best-selling car from the South Korean brand in India - Hyundai Elite i20. Being the best-selling model of the company in India for quite some time, the i20 is also among the first cars to come with 6 airbags in the domestic market.

Ever since the first-gen Elite i20 was launched, the hatchback car has a lot of safety features on tap. Like the Ford Ecosport, the top-end variant of the Elite i20 also comes with 6 airbags while dual front airbags are standard across all variants.

The top-spec Hyundai i20 is also equipped with anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, ISOFIX child seat mounts along with engine immobilizer and more. Hyundai is currently gearing up for the launch of 2020 Elite i20 which is set to hit the dealers around September this year.

4. Ford Aspire (6 airbags)
