Check out This Self-Driving Tata Hexa from Europe

Many people have a dream of self-driving or autonomous vehicles which are arguably considered the future of the world’s mobility. In fact, various automobile manufacturers and Tech companies in the world have developed autonomous cars to put them into practicality. The Indian automotive giant, Tata Motors is also burning its mid-night lamps for similar technology and has chosen the Tata Hexa for the project.

The UK-based Research & Development centre, TMETC (Tata Motors European Technical Centre) has worked on the running trial of the autonomous Hexa. In fact, Tata has partnered with UK Autodrive and started testing the self-driving car on the public roads in November 2017. There were a number of Tata Hexa cars that were equipped with many mapping equipments and sensors spotted on the UK roads.

Speaking on this advent, Rajendra Petkar, Chief Technology Officier of Tata Motors said,

“At Engineering Research Centre (ERC) we have been actively undertaking R&D work on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as well as full vehicle autonomy in order to be future-ready. Road congestion, air pollution and road safety, are acute concerns in India. We are likely to embrace connected, electric and shared technology sooner and therefore it is essential we remain at the forefront of these developments. Autonomy will be a consideration for the future in India. With the support of our much-talented team at TMETC, I am delighted to share that the trials done on the HEXA have yielded immensely rewarding insights for us. Going forward, we plan to introduce number of ADAS functionalities in a structured & phased manner."

Although the conclusion of the tests is yet to be known, the test result looks very prospective. We can see major development that was put on the technology during the test by the brand with various modern features like Advanced Driver Assistance System, Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory and Electronic Emergency Brake Light. That said, the test may not give us a full-fledged self-driving car but some high-tech driving assistance may be applied for the flagship Jaguar Land Rover models.
