Take a look at this Mahindra Thar, which has been modified by the folks at DC2 Design. Does it look any better than the stock version of the car?

DC Design is one of the most renowned modification houses in the country. The tuner has produced some of the nicest-looking cars in the past while using regular mass-market cars as donor vehicles. However, the folks at DC Design also have a past of taking away the charm of good looking cars with their obnoxious modifications. The design house is now in its second inning and is renamed as DC2 Design. The modifier has recently revealed the images of its newly-designed body kit for the all-new Mahindra Thar. With this kit, DC2 is claiming that new-gen Thar will be able to put Hummers to shame. However, we doubt.

With this kit from DC2 Design, the new-gen Thar looks weirdly bulbous. On the front, it helps the new-gen Thar lose some of its Jeep elements to gain some unwanted proportions. The bumper is a new beefed-up unit as well. Front fenders are now merged into the bonnet, and the wheel claddings have become bulkier than ever. Also, DC2 has replaced the circular headlamps with rectangular units, which are slim and do look out of place. The front grille is also a redesigned unit. Somehow, DC2 Design has got it right.

Moving over to the sides, the humongous wheel claddings look gawky. The DC2 modified Thar sits on a set of balloon tyres, which are shod on a set of chrome-finished off-road rims. At the rear, things are even more disturbing. The nice-looking LED tail lamps are replaced with twin-pod horizontally-stacked units. Also, the rear bumper looks like something that mankind has never seen on a set of four wheels before.

Interestingly, the rear axle is beefed-up, and this is a nice touch. DC2 should've replaced the IFS with a similar beefy solid axle. The interior of this modified Thar is still under the wrap. Well, it hardly needs any change to look any better. Mahindra has thoughtfully designed the cabin of the all-new Thar. The dashboard looks modern, while everything else feels car-like. Overall, this DC2 modified Thar looks cutesy, but not any better than the stock iteration.
