Mahindra Thar, in its new-gen avatar, is making its way to the headlines almost every day. It was launched in the country on October 2 at a starting price of Rs. 9.80 lakh. It was launched in a total of three trim levels. Also, the offroader managed to garner over 15,000 bookings in just 15 days from its launch. The deliveries of the new-gen Thar have already begun, but it seems like a slow start. We recently reported that a Mahindra dealer has confirmed the delay in the deliveries, but we now came across a social media post where a customer has mentioned the same. He has also shared his order receipt.

Delay in Deliveries of New Mahindra Thar - Buyers Disappointed

A quick look on the order receipt reveals that the car was booked on October 2 itself. The tentative delivery date on the order receipt is mentioned as November 1, 2020. Although, showroom staff is now failing to provide the customer with legit reasons for this delay. But it can be assumed that the high demand of the new-gen Thar was not anticipated by the folks at Mahindra. Therefore, the brand is facing issues in delivering the product on time.

Moreover, the high demand for the top-end LX trim is the reason that Mahindra has temporarily discontinued the entry-level AX trims of the all-new Thar. In recent reports, Mahindra has also confirmed to roll-out 2,000 units of the offroader every month, and the production will be ramped-up to 3,000 units from January 2021. With over 20,000 bookings recorded till date, the delay in the deliveries is evident with a monthly roll-out capacity of 2,000 units. But all of it is worth the wait.

Talking of its specifications, the Thar is available with two engine options – 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel. The turbo-petrol motor is capable of pushing out 150 HP against 320 Nm, whereas, the oil burner produces 130 HP and 300 Nm. The gearbox options on the all-new Thar include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. However, it comes standard with a 4x4 layout with a low-ratio gearbox and a mechanically-locking rear differential.
