First 2020 Mahindra Alturas G4 BS6 Delivered To President Of India

Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced the new BS6-compliant version of its flagship model- Alturas G4. The automaker has delivered the first unit of the new BS6 model to the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan. No specific details about that model have been revealed by the carmaker. We don’t know if it has been loaded with additional protection and accessories. This news has been confirmed by Mahindra Group’s president, mobility services Parthasarathy in a recent tweet and currently, the official car of the country’s president is Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman.

The new BS6 Mahindra Altras introduced in our market back in April 2020 with a price hike of Rs 1 lakh compared to that of the BS4 model. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is the rebadged version of the Ssangyong Rexton G4 and was introduced a few years back to rival with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. It is offered in 4X2 and 4X4 configurations. It is one of the most capable SUVs in its segment. It is offered at a starting price of Rs 28.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level 4X2 trim and goes all the way up to Rs 31.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec 4X4 variant. Mechanically, it derives power from a 2.2-litre four-pot diesel motor, which puts out 178bhp of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of twisting force at 1,600 to 2,600 rpm.

Transmission duties are done by a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes-Benz. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is a feature-loaded SUV and it looks butch from outside with an upright front fascia. Outside, it gets sharp-looking projector headlamps, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a huge grille with vertical slats along with some premium chrome accents. Inside, it features like an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, nine airbags, EPB, ESC, HSA, HDC, TC, seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, a powered tailgate and much more.
