First-ever 2020 Mahindra Thar (Price – Rs 1.11 Cr) to be Modified by Bimbra

2020 Mahindra Thar is making its way to the headlines every day for different reasons. The off-roader was launched in the country on October 2, and Mahindra has received over 15,000 bookings till date. Thus, the waiting period for the 2020 Thar is reported to be over two months.  Also, the very first unit of the 2020 Thar, which was auctioned for Rs. 1.11 Crore is now delivered to the winning bidder – Aakash Minda. The auction ended on September 30, while the car is delivered on November 1. Interestingly, this first unit of 2020 Mahindra Thar will go straight to the folks at Bimbra 4X4 for some serious off-road-centric modifications.

Bimbra 4X4 customization house is quite a famous name around off-road enthusiasts across India. They are based out of Gurgaon, Haryana and are famous for modifying off-roaders like Mahindra Thar, Force Gurkha, Maruti Gypsy, Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu V-Cross. Although, they haven’t revealed about the modifications that would be performed on this first unit of 2020 Thar.

In the new-gen avatar, Thar is available with three roof options – hardtop, fixed soft top, and convertible soft top. This delivered unit, however, features the convertible soft top, and it is the top-spec LX trim. Apart from this trim, there are two more trims on offer – AX and AX Optional. While the entry-level trim misses out on modern tech and features, the LX trim comes loaded to the gills. It gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, and more.

Talking of Thar’s specifications, it is now available with two engine options – 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel. The former of the two belts out 150 Hp against 320 Nm, while the latter puts outs 130 Hp and 300 Nm of max output. There are two gearbox options on offer – 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT. On the 2020 Thar, a BorgWarner transfer case with low-ratio gearbox comes as standard fitment across the range along with a mechanically-locking rear differential. The top-spec LX trim, on the other hand, gets a brake-locking front axle as well. Prices for the 2020 Thar start at Rs. 9.80 lakh and top out at Rs. 13.75 lakh.
