First-Ever New Mahindra Thar Convertible With 22-inch Alloy Wheels - THIS IS IT

Mahindra Thar in its new-gen avatar is enjoying a lot of attention from the Indian car buyers. The carmaker has received over 20,000 bookings for the off-roader. However, the monthly production is currently capped at just 2,000 units. Therefore, not a lot of examples can be seen on the roads. But, since the deliveries have begun and owners are modifying their prestige possessions, a lot of modified examples of the new-gen Thar can be seen across various social media platforms. Recently, we came across a set of pictures where a Mahindra Thar with a convertible soft top can be seen riding on a set of 22-inch rims.

These rims come from the collection of Victor wheels and are sourced from KB Tyres, who are based out of Ludhiana, Punjab. These rims feature diamond-cut finish, and their turbine-style design looks outrightly goegeous. They do look good on the all-new Thar but come at an added cost of reduced road comfort. Furthermore, the smaller sidewalls of the tyres can be hazardous when encountering a pothole or road undulation at high speeds. From the factory, Mahindra Thar is offered with two rim options – 16-inch steel wheels and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Talking of the convertible soft top, it is a manually-operated unit. Apart from this option, the Thar can also be had with either a fixed soft-top or a fixed hardtop. Mahindra is also offering two seating layouts with the Thar – side-facing 6-seater layout and forward-facing 4-seater layout. In terms of features, the new-gen Thar comes loaded with a long list of features. It gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, 7-inch infotainment unit with satellite navigation, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay compatibility, power windows, cruise control, automatic climate control and more.

For the powertrain options, one can choose between a 2.0L turbo-petrol motor and a 2.2L oil burner. The turbo-petrol engine puts out a rated output of 150 HP and 320 Nm, while the diesel engine produces 130 HP against 300 Nm. With two transmission choices – 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT, the all-new Thar comes standard with a 4x4 transfer case. Mechanically-locking rear differential and low-ratio gearbox are standard fitments across the range.
