Recently, a Maruti Suzuki XL6 was home-delivered to customers amidst the nationwide lockdown.

In April 2020, the Indian automotive market saw the sales of every carmaker operating in the country drop to ‘zero’. Now, with the renewed lockdown has added a little relaxation for corporate activities, and thus auto companies are trying to carve a path to recovery. Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has started delivering vehicles to the customers who have been waiting since before the lockdown.

The picture above shows a customer taking delivery of a brand new Maruti XL6. Judging by the background, it seems like the vehicle was indeed home delivered to the customers. Earlier this month, a Maruti Suzuki dealership in Kerala had also home-delivered an S-Presso to its customers. As people are mostly unable to leave their homes and visit their nearest car showroom to purchase a new vehicle, regaining sales momentum has been quite a challenge. Online bookings and home delivery of vehicles is a brilliant strategy for brands to attract customers without the need to physically be present at the dealership.

Also, the vehicles are usually thoroughly disinfected and sanitised before being delivered to the customers, which is an added layer of safety. Although life still hasn’t completely returned to normalcy, automobile companies are slowly but steadily resuming operations. Maruti Suzuki has already reopened 600 dealerships all over India, with guidelines issued for the employees' as well as consumers’ health and safety.

Maruti XL6 is a 6-seater MPV based on the Maruti Ertiga. It is powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-4 petrol engine. It is capable of generating a maximum power of 105 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Delivery of other Maruti Nexa cars has also begun

Not only Maruti XL6, but the rest of Maruti’s Nexa line-up is also being delivered to customers. The Nexa range of cars includes Maruti Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, XL6, and S-Cross. According to top officials at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, there will be a huge rise in demand for new cars once the lockdown gets lifted completely. For such a possibility, the company will be trying to ramp up its production to meet the potential future demand.
