Here, we have a video where a Ford EcoSport owner shares his opinion on why he chose it over its competitors like Tata Nexon or a Honda WR-V.

Ford EcoSport is the vehicle that popularised the sub-4-metre SUV in India. The Blue Oval has attracted a lot of fans over the years, and the EcoSport is its best selling model in India. Here, we have a video of an EcoSport-owner, who shares his opinion about the car along with the reasons why he didn’t buy the Honda WR-V or Tata Nexon.

Why I Chose Ecosport over Nexon & WRV - Ford over Tata & Honda | AutoWheels India

The video above was posted on the YouTube channel ‘AutoWheels India - Cars & RoadTrips’. It begins with the owner of an EcoSport explaining why he bought the car he did. This particular model is a 2018 Ford EcoSport, and he tells us that there were only four options in the sub-4-metre SUV segment back then- Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WRV, and Ford EcoSport. As he already had a Brezza, it was off the list. Next, he considered the Nexon. Although the car is high on safety, the interior quality was still not the best, and rattles and squeaks eventually tend to creep in after a year or two. Also, Tata’s aftersales service support was still not as great as other car manufacturers back in the day.

As for Honda WR-V, the man says he never liked the look of the car. To him, it felt more like a hatchback than an SUV. Technically speaking, the WR-V is based on the Jazz, and shares aplenty with the Maruti Baleno-rival. This left the owner with a single choice- Ford EcoSport.

The owner then starts to list all the things he loves about the EcoSport. The first one is the car’s driving feel. Ford cars are known for their dynamics, so this comes as no surprise. He also states that even with 200mm ground clearance, the car remains stable at high speeds. Next, he talks about engine reliability. While the Nexon was launched in 2018 with a brand new engine, the EcoSport with its 1.5-litre TDCi (the one in this particular model) had been around since 2013 in India. It is not uncommon for newer products to have unpolished edges, and the same is also true for new cars, especially with new powerplants.

The next reason is the service costs, which is much lower for Ford cars compared to Tata and Honda cars. The looks of the EcoSport were stated as another reason. The last reason is stated as the abundance of features, including cruise control, automatic wipers, auto headlamps, and SYNC 3 infotainment system.
