Ford India has released a new YouTube video where owners talk about their EcoSports impressive build quality and safety. Video and details below.

For anyone in the market to buy a new car, good build quality, and more importantly safety features are priorities today. The sub-4 meter crossover segment has been rapidly growing and car manufacturers in India have started building much safer cars than before with the Mahindra XUV 300 and the Tata Nexon being the benchmark in the segment with a full 5-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test. Recently GNCAP tested 3 made-in-India cars and the results were unsatisfactory at best. The Ford EcoSport was one of them and as a response, Ford India has released a video showcasing how safe their vehicle is.

The video was uploaded on Ford India’s official YouTube channel in which customers share the ownership experience of the Ford EcoSport. We see a lot of mentions of build quality and safety aspects, while also mocking other rival manufacturers for making cars like tin cans. The reassuring ‘Thud’ sound inspires confidence among the occupants. (Disclaimer – Nothing against Ford India, but a ‘Thud’ sound doesn’t automatically mean that it’s a safe vehicle.)

The video even shows dashcam footage of an accident where a truck had hit a Ford EcoSport and the driver managed to get out scot-free. The owners in the video say that this footage is proof enough about the car’s safety and is way above the GNCAP’s 5 stars, showing how serious Ford is about passenger safety. But it has to be mentioned that GNCAP hasn’t tested the India-spec Ford EcoSport yet for its crash test. The video also mentions that the EcoSport is an engaging drive and has the lowest maintenance costs In the segment.

Even though the Ford EcoSport was the first vehicle to start the crossover trend in India, it has lagged behind its competitors as it’s a much older molder compared to them and Ford  India has been trying to stem the tide by adding features like a touch screen infotainment system and an electric sunroof for starters.

Ford has been working on the next-generation EcoSport and a few renders have surfaced online even. By the looks of it will go for a new design language and it isn’t sure Ford will launch it in India as we love our pseudo-SUVs. The new Ford EcoSport is touted to share its platform with the Mahindra XUV 300, which just received 5-stars in the recent Global NCAP tests. The new EcoSport will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo 3-pot petrol or a 1.5-litre 4 cylinder oil burner and both are likely to be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options.
