The Ford Puma has been recently imagined in an all-new "Raptor" avatar. Take a look at the wild and crazy Ford Puma Raptor.

Since Ford’s India lineup is limited to the Ecosport and Endeavour only, the Ford Puma sounds a bit strange to the Indian audience. However, the Ford Puma is a popular nameplate in some international markets. It is currently one of the best-selling models of its segment.

A new rendering from Brazilian digital illustrator Kleber Silva has imagined the Ford Puma in the “Raptor” avatar. Dubbed the Puma Raptor, the rendered car looks extremely wild and crazy in its new avatar. The lower portion of the Puma has been taken to the extreme, giving the Puma Raptor a wacky look.

Some major highlights on the rendering include off-road-focused front & rear bumpers, silver skid plates, extended wheel arches, all-terrain tyres, tweaked suspension along with roof-mounted auxiliary lamps and more. Though the rendered features of this sort are not practical to come into production, its interesting look has certainly brought a breath of fresh air to the regular product like Ford Puma.

As for the standard Ford Puma, the Euro-spec model comes in three different trims, namely Titanium, ST-Line, and ST-Line X. It comes with three engine options that are based on Ford’s popular 1.0-litre EcoBoost 3-cylinder petrol engine. Note that the latter has been phased out in India before the BSVI emission compliance was rolled out. In its highest mild-hybrid guise, the Ford Puma can develop a maximum power of 153 BHP and 240 Nm of peak torque.

Despite being speculated to reach our shores sometime next year, we may not see the Ford Puma entering India in times to come considering the current context. However, the new alliance between Mahindra and Ford India does promise a lot. According to some sources, Ford- Mahindra are co-developing a new compact crossover to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Under this JV, the upcoming compact crossover will be developed on Ford’s VX-772 platform while employing the mStallion petrol engine from Mahindra. Other than that, the next-gen Ford Ecosport, a new C-platform SUV and a B-platform SUV will be introduced as a part of the joint venture. With the export markets being taken into consideration too, we predict that Ford India might borrow some bits from the Euro-spec Puma to the Indian-spec vehicles.
