Here's a Modified Maruti Zen With Ford Mustang's Grabber Blue Paint and Many Other Mods

Maruti launched the Zen in India in the year 1993. The popular belief about the Zen name was, it was an acronym for ‘Zero Engine Noise’. In contradictory to the popular belief, Zen is a Japanese word which means complete. Sold alongside the puny 800, Zen was considered as a sportier offering in that era. A lot of them can now be seen tuned to look wild and sporty. Here’s one as well, which is by far the best-looking example we have come across. It also boasts of some serious changes under its hood.

Maruti Zen was offered with a 1.0L 50 HP petrol engine from the factory, however, this one has a different engine, altogether.

With just a glimpse at the pictures you might have guessed by now, the car is from mod’s own country – Kerela, and it belongs to Sachu Dasan. Talking about the modifications, not much has been changed on the outside. However, it gets an eye-catching Grabber Blue paint-scheme, which is usually found on Boss Mustang and other classic models from Ford. The solid blue paint shade comes with contrast glossy-black paint for the roof. The black highlights have been used on the front grille, ORVMs, and door handles.

On the front, a set of auxiliary lamps have been mounted on the bumper. Under the bumper, an air deflector is also added, which might look like a cheap cosmetical mod, but serves an important purpose of stabilizing the car. On the sides, skirts have been added to improve the visual appeal of the car. Also, the evident change is a set of 14-inch 7J alloy wheels, draped in 185/50 section Maxxis tyres. Moving towards the rear, one can see a set of aftermarket LED tail lamps from Lumiere Concepts and a chrome muffler tip.

In terms of performance, the owner has customized the car in every possible direction. The engine has been replaced with Esteem’s G13B motor. The ECU is also borrowed from the Esteem. It uses a stainless steel intake manifold with BMC intake system, while on the exhaust ports, it gets 4:2:1 header from Automech. The transmission has been customized to features short throws, however, the braking duties are performed by slotted rotors and pads from Dixcel.

This Maruti Zen is tastefully modified and doesn't look like an overdone affair from any angle.

The other upgrades to the engine include NGK Iridium spark plugs, Exedy clutch, and a lighter flywheel. To let this compact beauty excel around corners, it gets custom spring with stiffened dampers to sit closer to the ground. A new strut bar from Race Concepts and a chassis brace have also been added. On the inside, the car has been plonked in with racing seats and an OMP leather steering wheel. With these mods, this car would surely be a fun vehicle to drive around than how it rolled out of the showroom floor.
