Here's a Maruti Swift with aftermarket lowering springs made by Cobra Suspension. It also gets a set of deep-dish alloy wheels inspired by certain styles of aftermarket JDM car culture.

The Maruti Swift is one of the last remaining refugees for car enthusiasts in our country in an era of do-it-all pseudo-SUVs. It combines the perfect mix of agility, stability and lightness, all while being completely worth the price you pay for it. The base-spec Swift carries a sticker price of Rs. 5.19 lakh, while its top-of-the-line version comes in at just over Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Hence, it is quite a fancied car amongst enthusiasts looking to buy something new right off the showroom floor. Not just that, sourcing aftermarket parts to customize each Swift in its own unique way is not tough by any means. Here’s a neat example of one of the few stanced-out Swifts in the country.

The car in the images above sits on lowering sports springs, made by Netherland-based Cobra Suspension. The mod job was carried out in Goa, with components supplied by Delhi-based AM Racing. The springs feature a linear spring rate for the front coil overs, while the rear ones are designed for progression. In other words, ‘K’, the spring constant is different for the coil springs used at the front and the rear. According to the modification house, this combination helps the car with improved road comfort and enhanced steering feedback.

Also, with a 30mm drop in ride height, the centre of mass is closer to the ground, further helping to reduced body roll during quick directional changes. To aid handling and give the car a whole lot of extra grip, it has also been fitted a set of aftermarket 17-inch BBS SRR alloy wheels finished in gold, shod with stickier 215mm section rubber with an aspect ratio of 45 per cent.

The car also gets a few cosmetic add-ons that help it stand out from the crowd. It gets a contrast camo pattern wrap on the front fender, with the graphics extending all the way up to the front doors. Looking at the car's side profile, with the bigger wheels and a lowered suspension give this India-spec Swift a new personality. To add to the customized look, the rear profile gets a large roof-mounted spoiler with smoked-out clear lens tail lamps. The car also boasts a large exhaust tip sticking out the back, with a burnt-titanium blue finish.

We are not sure if there are any other mechanical modifications under the hood, but the Swift in its factory form is a fun little nugget. The stock petrol motor has a very peppy nature and in the right situations, is good enough to keep anyone smiling for the most part. It gets a dsplacement of 1200cc and is able to produce a peak power output of 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque. The swift can be had mated to either a 5-speed stick shift or a 5-speed AMT.
