Here's a Serious Tug-Of-War Between Toyota Hilux And Ford Ranger

The Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger are both top-selling utility vehicles in Australia. They compete against each other so fiercely that the difference in their sales numbers in the last five years is only approximately 1000 units. While the former is good at certain aspects, the latter excels in other ones. With a view to figuring out which one is the superior of the two, a tug-of-war between the two cars has been conducted. In the meanwhile, the Ranger is powered by a 3.2-litre 5-cyl diesel unit which can generate 200 PS against 470 Nm. While the Ford Ranger weighs 2230 kilograms, the Hilux weighs 2045 kilograms, which gives the former a clear advantage over the latter.

There is no clear winner between the Toyota Hilux and the Ford Ranger in this fierce tug-of-war.

The competition is divided into two rounds. The first one is implemented with both of the cars in RWD mode with traction control off. The two vehicles end up spinning their wheels in their position. The second round is conducted in a new patch of ground with both of the two cars being in low-range 4WD mode with rear differential locks. Again, in this round, there is also no winner. As mentioned above, tug-of-wars like this are not very reliable in determining the clear winner because many other aspects need to be taken into account. The Japanese automaker is considering launching the Toyota Hilux in the Indian auto market as a lifestyle pickup truck; nevertheless, this type of vehicles has seen a quite low demand up to now.
