While the updated Tata Nexon comes with a sunroof on the top-spec XZ+(S) and XZ+(O) variants, the pre-facelift model didn't have this feature on any of the trim

Earlier this year, the Tata Nexon received a pretty comprehensive facelift, which not only brought a host of styling updates, but even some new features and updated engines that comply with BSVI norms. One of the most awaited additions that the compact SUV received was an electric sunroof, which is now being offered on XZ+(S) and XZ+(O) trims. However, the pre-facelift model didn't offer the option of a sunroof on any of its trim levels, which is the reason for many buyers taking the aftermarket route to equip the stylish SUV with this much-loved accessory. One such example is the red-painted pre-facelift Tata Nexon you see in the pictures we have here.

It may be noted that the pre-facelift Tata Nexon was being sold with an optional pop-up sunroof from Webasto as a part of the official accessories list. The manually-operated unit retailed for less than Rs 20,000. However, the sunroof that has been added to the car you see here is a full-electric unit from the same company. While it costs Rs 60,000, which is more than three times than what one would have paid for a manual unit, it's surely a lot swankier as it can be easily slid forward or backward using a button.

The electric sunroof range from Webasto costs Rs 60,000 to Rs 1 lakh (including taxes and fitment costs). The sunroof fitted on this Nexon has an electrically sliding glass. Other than this, the buyer can even choose to equip the vehicle with a sunshade and an anti-pinch feature by paying a bit extra. Besides, one can choose to install a more sophisticated unit with auto-close feature. The most affordable unit with this useful feature costs Rs 75,000.

Meanwhile, the most affordable sunroof-equipped trim of the Tata nexon is the XZ+(S), which is based on the top-end XZ+(O) trim and sits between the XZ+ and the top-end model. The petrol=powered XZ+(S) has been priced at Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom), while the diesel-sipping sibling costs Rs 11.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol variant of the SUV is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor that offers 120 PS and 170 Nm. This is 10 PS higher than what the motor produced for the pre-facelift version. The diesel engine variant, on the other hand, continues to offer a maximum power of 110 PS and a peak torque of 260 Nm. Transmission options for both the engines include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT unit. The Tata Nexon has been one of the safest compact SUV in the Indian market with a complete 5-star Global NCAP crash test rating.
