Digital rendering of the all-new Mahindra Thar, with a Jeep-like radiator grille and a raft of off-road worthy modifications, have a look.

The all-new Mahindra Thar has just been revealed in its second-gen avatar. The new model still manages to look imposing even though it features softer lines. But the purists have said that the new radiator grille of the Thar fails to match with the rest of the vehicle. This has led us to believe that this will be the first part that will be changed by new Tar owners. This is why Mahindra dealers are stocking Jeep-like grille for the new-gen Thar, which will be sold as an un-official accessory. Though how do you think the new-gen Thar will look like with the Jeep grille in its place? Not to worry, as our in-house rendering specialist and all-round magician - Shoeb R. Kalania has created a digital rendering to help you visualize how the Jeep grille will look on the new-gen Thar. He also somehow managed to make the already impressive Thar even more off-road worthy with some choice modifications in place.

One look at the rendering reveals that the JEEP grille on the new Thar looks just so right. But it doesn’t end there as there a few other design tweaks as well. The front bumper gets a new matte-black paint scheme and a winch is integrated with it as well, for the times you actually manage to get the new Thar stuck. Furthermore, an LED light bar is mounted atop the bumper which should be good for lighting up the whole forest you’re traversing through. The bonnet also is tweaked and features a small bump, making it look even more muscular.

A second LED lightbar as wide as the windscreen is mounted on the roof, and gets off-road centric rims with bead-locks, which is fitted with chunkier MT-spec rubber. Overall, this modified Thar with the JEEP grille and off-road modifications looks even better than the stock Thar.

The all-new Mahindra Thar now comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2 litre turbo-diesel, and a 2.0 litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 Ps and 320Nm of peak power and torque figures while the petrol makes 150 Ps and 320 Nm of max power and torque. You get two transmission options for both the powertrains, A 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed automatic. The new-gen Thar also comes with a low-range gearbox and a transfer case along with a mechanically-locking rear differential, which should make it as good as its beloved predecessor off-road.
